Before sending any starter to Sky-Tec for
service, please:
-
Complete steps 1 & 2 of the Sky-Tec
Troubleshooting
guide
If the Troubleshooting Guide
indicates the starter may be at fault, please call Sky-Tec to discuss your
service issue.
Many of our customers are surprised to find (sometimes after
paying for postage to send their starter to Sky-Tec)
that their starter was running fine. Remember, the
starter is only one component of your aircraft's starting
system. That is why it is imperative that you
understand the complete picture of how your aircraft is
supplying voltage to each starting system component prior
to removing and returning your Sky-Tec starter for
service.
-
If you determine that your
starter does require service and your aircraft is
certified, DO NOT attempt to service it
in the field. Only Sky-Tec (in the U.S.) is
certified by the FAA to return your starter to
service. Attempts to service the starter in the
field can (and most likely will) void your starter's
warranty. Experimental applications may call
the factory to obtain permission to
disassemble/service their starter.
-
Please read and understand the
terms of the Sky-Tec Factory
Warranty before requesting any warranty credit or
service.
-
Shippers are responsible for all
inbound shipping charges including but not limited to
shipping, duties, taxes, and entry prep fees, regardless
of whether warranty service applies or not.

Once Sky-Tec receives your starter, we will inspect &
test it, determine what if any repairs are necessary and
contact you to finalize payment and shipping preferences prior
to doing any repairs on your starter. Or, to avoid
delays, you may also choose to provide repair, shipping &
payment instructions in the package and Sky-Tec will turn your
service order around immediately.
Should you choose UPS to deliver your package, Sky-Tec will make every effort to turn your starter repair
or overhaul around the same day we receive it. Other
carriers will require a next-day turn-around. Occasionally,
however repairs may take longer than the same or even next day.
